We are a Science and Technology Organisation that bridges the gap between academia and industry. Our research creates economic growth and jobs for Singapore, and enhances lives by improving societal outcomes in healthcare, urban living, and sustainability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

A*STAR’s Corporate Communications (CC) division showcases the organisation’s R&D collaborations and outcomes, maintaining its visibility in a fast-paced media landscape. We communicate how our discoveries translate into real-world outcomes for the public, industry and scientific community through a dynamic, multi-channel approach.

This role oversees the execution of strategic communications strategies, to articulate A*STAR’s research impact in tangible, relatable ways—connecting complex scientific advances and innovation to the economic and public good. It involves working closely with other teams within Corporate Communications and across A*STAR to shape compelling, purpose-driven narratives that demonstrate how science and technology improve lives, transform industries, and support Singapore’s future-readiness.

We are looking for a people-centric, proactive individual to lead a team responsible for crafting and executing integrated communications strategies that highlight made-in-Singapore science, technology and innovation. This includes developing compelling narratives that champion the societal, economic and environmental impact of A*STAR’s research, and ensuring consistent messaging across platforms that reinforces A*STAR’s voice as a strategic innovation engine. The role involves providing strategic direction, maintaining high standards of storytelling, facilitating cross-team collaboration, and building strong networks with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve the team’s goals.

This role reports to the Director in charge of marketing and communications, and oversees a team of communications officers.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and ongoing curation of high-impact science and technology stories, and maintain a central repository aligned with A*STAR’s strategic messaging and national priorities
  2. Translate complex research outcomes into accessible and engaging narratives for different target audiences
  3. Shape and execute integrated communications campaigns that clearly articulate how A*STAR’s R&D creates value for Singapore and beyond
  4. Coordinate with the Research Office on A*STAR Research publication
  5. Define clear and measurable communication objectives aligned with overall organisational goals
  6. Identify and understand both internal and external audiences, and develop messages that address their specific needs
  7. Develop and implement long-term communication plans that align with the organisation’s strategic objectives
  8. Execute end-to-end campaigns across various media channels, ensuring consistent messaging and impact
  9. Able to analyse data and develop performance metrics as feedback on message effectiveness and guide improvements
Requirements
  • 6—8 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, media relations or marketing communications
  • Experience developing strategies and content that communicate the impact of science, technology and innovation, including translating complex or technical subject matter into accessible narratives for public or non-expert audiences
  • Proven track record in managing and executing integrated communications campaigns for both internal and external audiences
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to connect science and technology to tangible societal, economic, or environmental outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex topics into clear, compelling messages tailored to different platforms and audiences
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration

The following would be an advantage:

  • A degree in science or a related discipline
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation or a science and technology environment
