[What the role is]

  • Senior Assistant Director/Assistant Director in the Clinical Advisor Office plays a pivotal role in assisting the Deputy Director in setting up the governance, structure and processes of the Clinical Advisor Office; convening and supporting the technical advisory committees and expert workgroups; reviewing, developing and updating or renewing of clinical guidance related to communicable diseases; overseeing the development of an overarching strategy on therapeutics for communicable diseases and other administrative and finance work processes; and working with Whole-of-Government (WOG) ministries and agencies, and other professional bodies and societies.
  • This position involves leadership and supervisory skills, proactive needs assessment, committee facilitation, strategic, administrative and finance planning and development, stakeholder coordination and ensuring the currency and alignment of clinical guidance with international best practices and local healthcare priorities.
  • The Senior Assistant Director/Assistant Director will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to oversee a team and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.


[What you will be working on]

  • Leadership and Supervisory Role
  • Provide leadership in the review, strategic planning, development and implementation of efficient systems and processes for clinical guidance and therapeutics strategy development and ensuring alignment with the goals and standards of the organisation.
  • Lead, coordinate and support technical advisory committees and expert workgroups and spearhead initiatives to facilitate the development of evidence-based clinical guidance.
  • Horizon Scanning and Needs Assessment
  • Oversee the conduct of proactive horizon scanning to identify emerging needs and trends in the field of communicable diseases, aligning with international best practices and local healthcare priorities.
  • Determine the requirements for new or updated clinical guidance based on the identified needs and trends, ensuring responsiveness to evolving public health challenges.
  • Committee Organisation and Facilitation
  • Oversee the convening of technical advisory committees and expert workgroups to provide inputs on communicable diseases related matters and for reviewing and developing of clinical guidance.
  • Support and facilitate technical advisory committees and expert workgroups for the drafting and reviewing of clinical guidance, ensuring the inclusion of multidisciplinary expertise and stakeholder input in the clinical guidance development process.
  • Oversee the coordination of committee activities, including scheduling meetings, managing documentation, and fostering collaboration among committee members.
  • Clinical Guidance Development and Maintenance
  • Oversee the review, and developing of clinical guidance, ensuring that they remain current, evidence-based, and aligned with international standards.
  • Oversee the coordination of the periodic review and refreshment of existing clinical guidance to reflect the latest evidence and best practices, working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Strategic, Administrative and Finance Planning and Development
  • Oversee the review and developing of an overarching strategy on therapeutics for infectious diseases
  • Oversee, plan, organise the Clinical Advisor office’s workplan, finance and other administrative duties including building up and guiding a team for long term continuation and providing regular updates on matters related to the office.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers and public health experts, to gather input and insights for the development and maintenance of clinical guidance.
  • Work with WOG ministries and agencies, and other professional bodies and societies to provide inputs on clinical guidance, policies, programmes and strategies related to communicable diseases.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Oversee the team in maintaining comprehensive documentation of clinical guidance development processes, committee activities, and guidance updates, ensuring transparency and accountability in the guidance development and maintenance process.

  • Tertiary education in medical, biological sciences, healthcare, public health, or a related field.

  • Strong organisational, strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to plan, lead and coordinate committee activities, oversee work initiatives and manage guidance development processes.
  • Experience in drafting and developing clinical guidance, with a strong understanding of evidence-based medicine, clinical guidance development methodologies, and public health principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Familiarity with the operations, processes and systems of a healthcare organisation and the local healthcare polices, programmes and landscape
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to conduct thorough needs assessments and horizon scanning activities to inform clinical guidance development.
