Role: Senior Art Director (Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore)

Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore is the modern and sophisticated guide to the best in fashion, beauty, design, travel, and the arts. We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Senior Art Director to lead and enhance the visual identity of the magazine. This individual will be responsible for designing and overseeing all visual aspects of print, digital, and social media content, ensuring consistency across all platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fashion trends, typography, layout design, and digital content creation, with a keen eye for aesthetics.

The Senior Art Director is expected to increase the profile and brand visibility of the title across all its platforms—from print and website to social media channels and events—and act as a guardian of the title’s identity and DNA. The Senior Art Director will report directly to the Editor-in-Chief and work closely with the Associate Art Director and team leads from the commercial, print, and digital departments.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Brand Consistency: Implement and maintain consistency in visual style and branding across all products and platforms, including print, website, social media, and marketing materials. Create and maintain a style guide for the brand.

  • Creative Direction: Lead the overall visual direction of the magazine, from cover design to editorial layouts, including engaging web and social media visuals.

  • Layouts & Design: Collaborate with editors, photographers, stylists, and content producers to create compelling layout concepts for print, web, and social media, including infographics and videos.

  • Social Media Content: Work with the editorial team to develop and execute visually appealing content for platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

  • Photo and Video Shoots: Conceptualize, art direct, and oversee photo and video shoots, ensuring high-quality output.

  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects with tight deadlines, coordinating with various teams.

  • Trend Awareness: Stay updated on emerging fashion trends and social media aesthetics to keep the magazine’s visual style current.

  • Photo Editing: Source and manage photos and illustrations, overseeing administrative processes related to rights and invoicing.

  • Leadership: Lead and mentor the Associate Art Director and collaborate with the editorial team to realize creative concepts.

  • Administrative Responsibilities: Coordinate with different departments for marketing, digital, and print assets, ensuring timely delivery and proper administrative controls.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years in graphic design, with at least 2 years in an art director role within fashion, lifestyle, or luxury brands. Experience in both print and digital content is required. Experience in video production is a plus.

  • Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, knowledge of web design, and familiarity with social media content creation tools.

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing relevant print, digital, and social media projects, preferably within fashion or lifestyle sectors. Please include a link to your portfolio.

  • Creativity: Strong visual aesthetic and innovative design approach, with strategic thinking about audience engagement.

  • Attention to Detail: High-quality, polished design work with an exceptional eye for detail.
