Role Overview
You will be responsible for developing and implementing pricing policies and trade strategies for ANL’s North East and South East Asia to New Zealand services (ANZEX and KIX SB). This role requires a versatile professional with strong expertise in southbound pricing, performance monitoring and analysis, competitive market intelligence, and assessing trade performance against strategic objectives to ensure alignment with overall business goals.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Line Manager to develop revenue-maximizing strategies for the SEA/NEA–New Zealand Southbound trade.
  • Set sales targets and origin port allocations using the "Model Vessel" approach to optimize vessel contribution.
  • Define and manage CSA files and ensure freight rates align with SEA/NEA–NZ Southbound trade strategies.
  • Monitor and approve ESRs; provide ongoing support for SpotOn system and related processes.
  • Track and report weekly on cargo liftings, revenue, and contribution to ensure strategic targets are met.
  • Monitor vessel space utilization and agency sales performance to ensure allocations and targets are achieved.
  • Implement and oversee the strategic marketing plan and pricing policy for Southbound trade.
  • Set and maintain freight rates in AQUA and SpotOn; manage pricing for regional and global tenders in coordination with the Global Tender Manager.
  • Analyze competitor pricing trends to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Provide support on LARA and AQUA inquiries; ensure compliance with QA standards and internal procedures.
  • Maintain accurate pricing reports, sales reports, and statistical databases as required.
  • Contribute to monthly forecasting, performance reviews, and sales reporting in collaboration with the Line Manager.
  • Identify market threats and opportunities, and develop strategies to protect ANL’s market position and cost efficiency.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as directed by the Line Manager.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a business discipline
  • 3 years experience in the shipping industry.
  • An understanding of both ‘macro’ and ‘micro’ business fundamentals.
  • Highly developed computer and spreadsheet skills including a high level of numeracy.
