We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our flagship mobile engineering team and contribute to the future of our Android platform. In this hands-on role, you’ll take ownership of key features, collaborate closely on architectural decisions, and help evolve our mobile capabilities. You’ll bring solid experience in native Android development, a strong understanding of modern mobile design patterns, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality code in complex environments.
As a Senior Engineer, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-platform peers to build and evolve a performant, reliable, and scalable Android experience. Your work will not only contribute directly to key features, but also set the standards, systems, and processes that improve the velocity and quality of teams across the mobile organization.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Android engineer who thrives in a collaborative, product-driven environment and is ready to take on a wider sphere of influence across squads and regions. We follow a remote-first working policy, with the option to work from the office as desired, and a minimum expectation of two in-office days per month.
How you will contribute:
● Design, development, and evolution of Android architecture, frameworks, and performance-critical systems across the app.
● Collaborate closely with product, design, and platform leads to define technical strategy and ensure high-quality feature delivery.
● Set coding standards and best practices across Android teams, and guide others through code reviews, architecture discussions, and design documentation.
● Identify cross-cutting concerns and lead platform-wide initiatives (e.g., performance optimization, modularization, observability, or test infrastructure).
● Act as a technical mentor for junior engineers, helping grow both technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
● Champion high performance, scalability, and maintainability in everything you build, and work proactively to identify and resolve system-level bottlenecks.
● Foster cross-platform and cross-squad collaboration by running design reviews and improving alignment with iOS and backend counterparts.
What you’ll need to be successful:
● 8+ years of professional experience with Android development, with strong proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
● Proven track record of designing scalable mobile architecture and leading complex engineering projects.
● Solid experience contributing to complex engineering projects, cross-functional collaboration, and influencing engineering culture.
● Deep understanding of UI frameworks, offline data strategies, threading, performance profiling, and memory management in Android.
● Experience with test automation, CI/CD integration, and mobile observability practices.
● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and bring people along in decisions.
● Strong ownership mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, and driven to solve problems at both the technical and team level.
Plus:
● Experience building or optimizing consumer-facing audio/video features.
● Familiarity with media streaming protocols like HLS or MPEG-DASH.
● Knowledge of ad technologies such as SSAI, pre-roll/mid-roll integration, or player monetization strategies.
● Exposure to multi-region collaboration or experience working in distributed engineering teams.
