Job summary

uParcel is hiring a Senior AI & Software Engineer to architect and build the core intelligence powering real-time job assignment, routing efficiency, and driver-matching at scale. You will design distributed systems, production ML pipelines, and guide the platform toward autonomous, AI-driven logistics.

You will lead backend service design with Python/Django, implement scalable AWS deployments, and build high-performance APIs for real-time decisioning, while mentoring engineers and shaping

Qualifications

• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, distributed systems.
• Expert-level Python and production Django experience.
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud architecture and infra design.
• Experience building and deploying ML models in production environments.
• RESTful API design, microservices, and asynchronous systems knowledge.
• Familiarity with geospatial computation, routing algorithms, or optimization models.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and IaC (CloudFormation).
• Ability to reason about system performance, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own system architecture and backend engineering for real-time decisioning.
• Architect and implement backend services using Python, Django, and microservices.
• Design scalable, fault-tolerant AWS deployments (EC2, ECS/Lambda, RDS, S3).
• Build high-performance APIs for real-time driver matching and workflows.
• Implement asynchronous processing pipelines (Celery, SQS) and monitoring.
• Lead AI/ML engineering for real-time job assignment and load balancing.
• Collaborate with data/ops teams to ensure scalable data pipelines.
• Drive architectural decisions and enforce engineering best practices.
