The Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Senior Administrative Executive to provide administrative support to The Straits Times. The incumbent will be responsible for managing various administrative tasks, coordinating newsroom operations and ensuring smooth workflow.

Job Responsibilities

You will be involved in the day to day administrative activities related to The Straits Times newsroom operations. Your responsibilities will include monitoring mailboxes, handling readers’ inquiries, updating diary events, replying to media advisories, tracking newsroom staff work and leave schedule, administrating contests, compiling charts and tables.

Other duties include making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, procuring and keeping inventory of office equipment and supplies, making article fee payments, handling of contracts, and other administration duties. From time to time, you are also required to assist in managing special projects and initiatives as assigned, including research, data analysis, and coordination with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Diploma with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Able to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Meticulous attention to details and accuracy in all work

  • Proactive and resourceful problem solver. Able to anticipate needs, identify issues, and find effective solutions

  • Proficient in using office productivity software, including Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and other relevant tools

  • Collaborative and supportive team player. Willing to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information
