Job Summary (12 months contract)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Singapore Finance team, supporting SCOR Reinsurance Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and its branches. This role is integral to delivering accurate and timely financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with MAS and Group requirements, and supporting the business in maintaining strong financial governance.

As part of a high-performing team, you will take ownership of key deliverables across statutory reporting, tax, internal financial reporting, and accounting operations. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across finance and other departments to deliver insights, support key initiatives, and contribute to process enhancements in a dynamic reinsurance environment.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. External Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual MAS regulatory returns, including solvency and capital adequacy reporting (Singapore Insurance Fund, Offshore Fund).

  • Monitor MAS solvency margins and proactively escalate capital risks to management when thresholds approach alert levels.

  • Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements in compliance with the Singapore Companies Act.

  • Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, including corporate income tax and GST filings.

  • Respond to MAS and other government agencies' queries and surveys, including Income & Expenditure surveys.

  • Liaise with external auditors on audit planning, data retrieval, and audit schedules.

2. Group & Internal Reporting

  • Prepare quarter-end deliverables under IFRS 17 and Solvency II, including reporting templates, memos, and reconciliations.

  • Support variance analysis for both technical and financial results, providing clear commentary on keydrivers.

  • Ensure internal processes are aligned with Internal Control Standards (ICS) and appropriately documented.

  • Provide timely responses to Group Finance’s ad-hoc data or project requests.

3. Financial Operations & Accounting

  • Collaborate with the Finance team to execute quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and filings.

  • Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Manage payment processing and cash flow monitoring, working closely with Treasury to ensure alignment with investment strategies and liquidity needs.

4. Continuous Improvement & Projects

  • Stay updated on evolving regulatory and accounting standards (e.g. MAS updates, IFRS 17 readiness).

  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements, automation efforts, and documentation updates.

  • Participate in regional and global finance transformation projects and cross-functional initiatives as required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in insurance audit or the commercial sector, with at least 2 years in the insurance or reinsurance industry preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with MAS regulatory reporting and familiarity with local statutory requirements.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to work with large datasets and perform financial analysis.

  • Solid understanding of IFRS accounting standards; experience with IFRS 17 is a plus.

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.

Personal Competences:

  • Deadline focused and attention to detail.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Absolute integrity and discretion in handling matters of confidentiality.

  • Have a tactful approach to resolving problems and have a pleasant personality.
