A leading company in the ceramics sector is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage financial operations in their Singapore office. This full-time role involves a range of responsibilities, from preparing financial statements to ensuring compliance with international standards. Ideal candidates will bring over 8 years of experience and a professional accounting qualification.
About the role
As a Senior Accountant at Morgan Ceramics Asia Pte. Ltd., you will play a crucial role in the organisation's financial operations. Based in the Tai Seng North-East Region, this full-time position will see you responsible for a range of key accounting and reporting duties. You will be a key member of the team, contributing to the overall financial health and strategic direction of the company.
What you'll be doing
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes for MCA, ensuring deadlines are met.
Prepare and review complex journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and allocations.
Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., bank, receivables, payables, intercompany) and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Prepare and file accurate and timely statutory tax returns (e.g., GST/VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax) and supporting schedules, liaising with external advisors as needed.
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls (SOX where applicable), company policies, and accounting standards (IFRS/Local GAAP).
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing requested documentation and addressing auditor queries.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts and transactions.
Contribute to the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control.
Provide guidance and support to Accounts Executive for professional growth.
Support ad-hoc financial analysis, projects, and initiatives as directed by the Senior Financial Controller.

What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within the manufacturing or ceramics industry
Proficient in the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights
Excellent attention to detail and a proven track record of accuracy in financial reporting
Proficient in the use of accounting software and spreadsheet applications
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams
A team player with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
Person Specification
Education and experience - Minimum level of education and experience required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, CIMA).
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
Proven experience in full-cycle month-end/year-end closing processes.
Solid experience with statutory compliance and tax filings (GST/VAT, CIT).
Experience working within a multinational corporation environment.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel.
Experience supervising junior staff.
