Job description

The Senior Accountant supporting the shared service team is responsible for overseeing critical accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with financial standards and regulations, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance process efficiency and standardization of processes across locations.

This role involves managing the closing process, general accounting matters, managing external audits, and supporting company-wide projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. General Accounting:
    1. Support the Shared Service team on timely closure and ensure quality deliverables.
    2. Manage day-to-day accounting activities including providing advice on journal entries, adjustments, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations.
    3. Oversee the maintenance of the chart of accounts.
    4. Provide financial updates and technical advice in accounting treatment for new business transactions.
    5. SAP month-end close in relation to the general ledger.
    6. Financial statement flux analysis/review.
  2. Shared Service Operations:
    1. Work closely with the Shared Service team on process improvement and standardized processes across locations.
    2. Support the Shared Service team in various accounting functions, ensure smooth communication between the Shared Service team and the operation team, and facilitate resolution of financial issues.
  3. Compliance and Audit Support:
    1. Responsible for local statutory audit, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data and providing support during external audits.
    2. Ensure smooth coordination between the Shared Service Team and auditors and proper documentation provided by the Shared Service team for audit review.
    3. Liaise with the corporate secretary on filing of the audited financial statements to ACRA.
  4. Process Improvement and Optimization Project:
    1. Participate in the implementation and enhancement of the ERP system and any other company-wide projects.

Skills Required

  1. Proficiency in accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS).
  2. Strong knowledge in SAP and Excel.
  3. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders across multiple locations.
  4. Preferably 3 to 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or public accounting firm.
  5. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
