Job description

Position: Senior Account Sales Engineer

This position is responsible for the field sales of Cognex's Vision Solutions. It involves managing a defined territory and/or set of end users, partners, and OEMs. The primary focus is on vision opportunities, but the account manager is also responsible for selling the entire sensor product portfolio within strategic accounts.

The employee will work closely with the District Sales Manager to develop account strategies and tactics, aiming to exceed sales quotas and expand business within these accounts. Collaboration with sales and product marketing teams is essential for strategic opportunities.

Essential Functions:
  1. Forecast and close vision solutions sales with End Users, Partners, and OEMs.
  2. Demonstrate products effectively and utilize the burn grass/delta sell sales process.
  3. Follow up on sales leads and schedule customer visits.
  4. Coordinate with the Sensor Sales Engineer to ensure sales of Cognex products into strategic accounts.
  5. Identify sensor leads during customer activities and pass them to the Sensor Sales Engineer.
  6. Train and evangelize Cognex products to ASP Partners to increase sales and awareness.
  7. Develop and execute plans for sensors and vision at Most Wanted Accounts.
  8. Use the 6 bullets sales process to win large strategic opportunities.
  9. Conduct product and solution demonstrations at customer sites.
  10. Collaborate with counterparts across territories for integrated opportunities.
  11. Follow up on customer inquiries, understand system requirements, and differentiate Cognex solutions.
  12. Assist at trade shows and marketing events.
  13. Coordinate evaluations with the Applications Engineering team.
  14. Maintain and update project information in salesBook.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven sales performance in the automation industry.
  • Experience in solutions sales environment.
  • Use of defined sales processes to achieve results.
  • PC literacy, especially MS Windows applications.
  • Ability to work independently.
Minimum Education and Work Experience:
  • Technical Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven sales record with targets exceeded.
  • Experience selling technical products to production managers and engineers.
