Job summary

NETS is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain layered security controls. You will partner with security operations, IT, and risk teams to deploy and optimize tools, develop policies, and enhance detection and response capabilities.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience with SIEM/SOAR/EDR/XDR, cloud security, and scripting in Unix/Linux. You will manage incidents, work with vendors, and ensure compliance through robust change management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in security engineering with proven expertise in implementing and managing security technologies including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, AV, Vulnerability Management, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF and IDS/IPS.
• Strong understanding of information security principles and networking concepts; hands‑on experience in Unix/Linux environments and scripting (e.g., shell scripting) to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience planning, implementing, and rolling out security solutions into production with ability to manage risks and unforeseen challenges.
• Ability to work independently with ownership and accountability; relevant vendor and cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Security Specialty) are required.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security technologies across the environment.
• Deploy native and 3rd party security solutions in cloud environments.
• Harden and manage security tools to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Lifecycle management of security solutions, including updates and version control.
• Manage incidents from zero‑day vulnerabilities to patches with minimal business impact.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and vendors to resolve issues.
• Conduct periodic checks to ensure optimal operation and plan for future state.
• Perform comprehensive UAT for security solutions prior to production rollout.
• Lead POS and deployment projects with vendors from POC to full implementation.
• Adhere to ITSM processes for BAU changes, problem and incident management.
• Keep documentation up to date with daily activities.

Job description

The Security Engineer plays a critical role in helping to design, implement and maintain various security tools that together form a layered defence against cyber threats.

The ideal candidate will work closely with security operations, IT, and risk teams to deploy and optimize security tools, develop policies, and improve detection and response capabilities

Key Responsibilities

• Implement security technologies not limited to SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR, Anti-Virus, Vulnerability Management, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF, IDS/IPS.
• Implement native cloud security solutions and 3rd party security solutions in cloud environments.
• Manage & maintain the security tools ensuring they are hardened as per the security, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Manage and maintain the technology lifecycle of the solutions to ensure they are running on approved stable versions.
• Manage incidents not limited to zero-day vulnerabilities, patching, misconfigurations with minimal impact to business.
• Troubleshoot implementational issues by working closely with cross functional teams and vendors.
• Perform periodic checks on the solutions to ensure they run optimally and plan for future state considering business growth.
• Conduct comprehensive UAT for the security solutions before rolling out to production environments.
• Partner with vendors to implement security solutions, driving projects from proof-of-concept (POC) to full deployment.
• Implement BAU changes on the tools as part of change management, problem management and incident management, adhering to ITSM processes.
• Continuously update the documentation to ensure the KOPs are available commensurate to daily activities.
• Deliver the assigned tasks as per plan by collaborating with key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and rolling out security solutions into production, with the ability to effectively manage risks and unforeseen challenges.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong ownership, accountability, and a results-driven mindset.
• Relevant vendor and cloud security certifications, such as AWS Security Specialty (or equivalent), are required.
