A leading research entity in Singapore is seeking a Scientist to advance research in infectious diseases. The successful candidate will lead projects focusing on genetic determinants of viral diseases, develop new research techniques, and collaborate locally and internationally while mentoring students.
A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*IDL) is actively seeking a Scientist to join our mission of becoming a leading centre for infectious diseases research. A*IDL aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response integrated with National PREPARE programme, and to advance translational research in infectious diseases to improve both health and economic outcomes.
The Genetics of Host Immunity Lab at A*IDL focuses on studying the genetic and immunological determinants of life-threatening viral diseases. We are interested in how variants in human genes, or their immunological phenocopies, can predispose patients to severe viral diseases upon exposure to common, yet typically benign viruses. Better understanding of the cause and mechanism of disease that drive the clinical manifestations in patients can guide the development of targeted and effective therapeutic strategies against viral infections. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic geneticist/ bioinformatician to join us in this adventure. This work may require the selected candidate to work in a BSL-2 and BSL-3 facility.
