Job description

What the role is:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative researcher to spearhead translational studies on mosquito biology, behaviour, surveillance, mass rearing, and control with NEA’s Environmental Health Institute (EHI). The successful candidate will drive our mosquito control programmes while contributing to multidisciplinary R&D initiatives that address critical public health challenges in Singapore's urban environment.

What you will be working on:

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Design, execute, and evaluate experimental studies related to mosquito biology, behaviour, surveillance technologies, and mass rearing systems
  • Oversee research projects, including resource allocation, timeline management, and quality assurance of deliverables
  • Lead or support the development and prototyping of novel tools for vector control
  • Conduct data analysis, interpret findings, and present results to management and local stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Work Instructions and Risk Assessments for research and operational activities
  • Identify and drive opportunities for innovation, translational application, and continuous improvement within environmental health research domains
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, publications, and presentations to disseminate research outcomes and support policy development.

What we are looking for:

  • Masters or PhD in Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field. Candidates with Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience will also be considered
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in leading research projects and teams, preferably in insect rearing or related areas
  • Excellent team management and leadership abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven skills in experimental design, data analysis and scientific writing
  • Good physics knowledge, experience with robotics, 3D modelling and rapid prototyping will be preferred
