Job description

Our team at A*STAR Skin Research Labs (A*STAR SRL) is committed to advancing next generation biophotonics technologies to tackle key national healthcare challenges. We offer access to cutting-edge biophotonics tools, collaboration with leading clinicians and industry partners, and opportunities for meaningful clinical and commercial translation.

We are currently seeking a scientist to contribute to the development of cutting edge miniaturized optical spectroscopy platform with innovative AI-analytics for skin health applications.

Job scope/responsibilities:

  • Development of optical hardware and systems for diffuse optical spectroscopy & imaging (DOSI), and Raman spectroscopy
  • Develop AI models for skin imaging and analytics
  • Develop tissue optics model for improved light-tissue interaction analysis.
  • Development and optimization of algorithms for spectral and image data processing, including quantitative analysis of tissue parameters
  • Testing of developed spectroscopy system in phantoms and later in clinical settings
  • Prepare and review project status, reports and ensure timely completion of planned objectives
  • Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, biologists, and engineers, to validate the developed system in clinical environments.
  • Present study concepts, experimental results, new findings to the management team and the research team members
  • Write peer-reviewed papers, technical disclosures, contribute to grant writing and present to internal and external stakeholders, where necessary

Job requirements:

  • PhD degree in Physics/Biomedical Engineering/Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant fields with minimum 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong background in tissue optics modelling and spectroscopic techniques, particularly diffuse Reflectance and Raman Spectroscopy.
  • Familiar with AI models, AI assisted image reconstruction and analysis
  • Proficiency in image and spectral analysis, including preprocessing and feature extraction techniques
  • Experience on AI algorithm development for image enhancement
  • Proficient in Matlab, Python and/or LabVIEW programming, Solid works, Zemax, ANSYS
  • Demonstrated track record of high impact peer-reviewed journal publications
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Industry working experience is advantageous
