UWCSEA Dover is looking for one full timeScience Technician to start from September/October 2025.
Reporting to the Heads of Subject and the Head of High School Science, the successfulcandidatewill provide technical support in the College's Science Department by preparing, delivering, and maintaining experimental setups, and by managing the safe operating procedures of all equipment and materials. This will ensure the best possible experience of practical science for students and support teachers in their roles.
Work with the Heads of Subject to:
Coordinate the use of practical resources and printed materials, provide assistance and advice to staff and students in meeting the requirements of all curricular and extracurricular activities, including field trips.
Procure, prepare, deliver, and maintain the experimental setups and printed materials in each laboratory before each lesson and clear upon completion.
Complete the required procedures with internal and external departments and contractors to ensure provision of services and supplies (e.g. Facilities, Mail, Purchasing, Printing & Supplies).
Clean equipment thoroughly, including washing glassware and checking its safe operation, completing repair activities where possible or organising replacement services, maintenance, replacement and safe disposal of equipment making sure adequate equipment is available.
Support sustainability in the planning, organisation, and execution of job duties.
Work with the Science Risk Specialist to:
To comply with regulations of government bodies such as NEA, SCDF, & SPF to maintain the licence.
Maintain a high level of safety standards and keep up to date with current procedures and practices, including health and safety requirements, through continuing professional development.
To develop risk assessments, trialling and developing practical protocols for curricular and extracurricular activities, including field trips.
Qualification:
Minimum of Diploma in Science related discipline preferred.
Candidate without a diploma but possess relevant working experience are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
3 Years experience of working in a relevant discipline within laboratory or similar environment
3 Years experience of working in an international/local education setting
3 Years working knowledge of relevant laboratory safety policies and procedures
Skills and Qualities:
A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and as a team
Working knowledge of Mac platform, MS Office and Google Workplace Tool
Commitment to the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding
Excellent organisational and time management skills
An enquiring mind, with willingness to learn and develop new skills.
