Singapore Public Service seeks a Research Assistant (Aquaculture) to plan and conduct life science R&D experiments and routine operations focused on aquaculture. You will work with project leaders to achieve project aims and mentor students involved in final year projects, internships, and attachments.

You will analyze data, review literature, and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication, while supporting procurement with lab management.

Formación

• Experience in aquaculture operations or research is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
• Good planning, organizing, and multi-tasking with responsibility.
• Proficient IT skills and strong documentation abilities.
• Experience with lab techniques and data analysis.

Responsabilidades

• Plan and conduct life science related R&D experiments and routine operations focusing on aquaculture (husbandry, breeding, developmental biology, transcriptomics, molecular biology techniques, operations optimization, diagnostics, health, genetics).
• Collaborate with the project leaders to achieve project aims.
• Mentor students in final year projects, internships, and attachments.
• Analyze and interpret data; review literature; contribute to reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
• Assist with procurement of consumables and equipment with lab management.

What the role is

School of Applied Science - Research Assistant (Aquaculture)

What you will be working on

• Plan and conduct life science related R&D experiments and routine operations with a focus on aquaculture such as husbandry, fish breeding, developmental biology, transcriptomics, routine molecular biology techniques, optimization of operations, diagnostics, health, genetics
• Work with the project leader and co-project leaders to achieve the aim of the research projects.
• Mentor students involved in final year projects, internships, short-term work attachments, and similar programmes.
• Analyse and interpret research data, critically review relevant scientific literature, and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations and research manuscripts for publication.
• Support the procurement of consumables and equipment together with lab management.

What we are looking for

• Relevant qualification in life science, Aquaculture, Agriculture or molecular biology.
• Experience in aquaculture operations and/or research would be an added advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels.
• Possess sound planning, organising, good multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of responsibility for completing assigned duties on time.
• Proficient in IT skills.
• Good documentation skills, laboratory techniques, research and data analysis skills.
• Successful candidate will be employed on a contract basis and will be based either fully or on a rotational basis at one of the local partner institutions.
