Job description

Position: Sales Training Manager
Location: Tuas, Singapore

Our client, a leader in the FMCG sector, is seeking a Sales Training Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in assessing and addressing training needs within the Commercial division, focusing on enhancing selling skills, product knowledge, and overall commercial capabilities. The role will initially operate as an individual contributor, with potential to establish and lead a Commercial Training function by FY2027.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive learning programs (classroom, online, and social learning experiences) for Bargainable employees and Commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and business leaders to define clear learning objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Manage all systems, SOPs, training materials, and processes required for effective training delivery, building the function from scratch.
  • Conduct product and sales training to ensure a deep understanding of beverage products, features, benefits, and sales/negotiation skills.
  • Promote and support both open enrollment and invitation-only programs to maximize participation and workforce development.
  • Assess training effectiveness and employee engagement through feedback, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, internal/external partners, and vendors to ensure relevance and impact of learning solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to ensure training content remains current.
  • Support new product launches and promotional events with tailored training initiatives and contribute to talent pipeline development.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Adult Education, or a related field.
    At least 10 years of sales training experience in FMCG (preferably beverages), including needs analysis, curriculum development, and program delivery.
    At least 4-5 years of leadership experience in Learning & Development in a Commercial setting. Start-up experience will be prioritized.
    Exceptional communication skills and the ability to facilitate effective group sessions.
  • Preferred:
    Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment.
    Proven experience in building and leading training functions, including team management, end-to-end program design, and establishing training assets from scratch.
    Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) for content deployment and completion tracking.
    Knowledge of competency frameworks and developing training programs to support behavioral change.
    Strong project management skills and vendor management experience, including negotiation and quality assurance.
    Knowledgeable about the FMCG industry, sales processes, and food environments in Singapore.
