About the Position

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Executive to join our team. They will be responsible for building and qualifying pipelines through creative sales activities, connecting with potential customers, building relationships that lead to opportunities, and converting opportunities to actual sales (with the support of the technical/solutions team). These activities will follow and align to the new logo sales methodology within the EE’s CRM.

Successful candidates will be high energy, intelligent, outgoing, professional, driven and able to multi-task in a dynamic and often changing environment. Required will be humility, honesty, integrity, ability to work independently, and significant industry based knowledge.

Key Stakeholder Relationships

This position works closely and collaboratively with all Energy Exemplar staff but in particular:

  • VP Commercial (APAC)
  • SVP APAC
  • Solution Engineering (Regional)
  • Potential Clients
  • Existing Clients
  • Marketing

Responsibilities:

  • Drive New Business:Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within the energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors across Asia Pacific (specifically South East Asia).Travel within the region to conduct face to face and/or virtual sales meetings
  • SaaS & Enterprise Solution Selling: Lead consultative, value-based sales of complex SaaS and simulation software solutions (e.g., PLEXOS) to strategic accounts including utilities, grid operators, regulators, and large industrials.
  • Territory Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy tailored to the regulatory landscape, market maturity, and customer needs in Asia Pacific (specifically South East Asia)..
  • C-Level Engagement: Engage, influence, and build trust with senior stakeholders (CIOs, CTOs, COOs, Strategy Directors) to position Energy Exemplar as a strategic partner.
  • Pipeline Generation & Management: Own the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signature, ensuringaccuratepipeline forecasting and CRM discipline.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Pre-Sales, Solutions, Legal, and Marketing to tailor proposals, run POCs, and address complex commercial and technical requirements.
  • Thought Leadership & Evangelism: Represent Energy Exemplar at industry events, forums, and webinars; articulate PLEXOS’ unique value in energy transition, market design, and system planning.
  • Account Expansion & Retentionworking closely with the Customer Success Team to build long-term customer relationships with a focus on renewals, upsells, and expanding PLEXOS adoption across business units.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed about regulatory trends, competitive movements, and innovation across electricity, gas, hydrogen, decarbonization and other sectors in the region.
  • Support internal and external events, including webinars by identifying prospects and clients to attend.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of proven experience in enterprise software or SaaS sales, business development, or consulting, preferably in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated success in selling to the Energy, Utilities, Renewables, or Oil & Gas sectors within South East Asia.
  • Strong track record of consistently exceeding sales targets and delivering revenue growth across large enterprise accounts.
  • Extensive customer-facing experience leading digital transformation or energy transition initiatives, with ownership of large, strategic accounts or projects.
  • Proven ability to drive new business in a developing and competitive market, leveraging a solution-based, consultative sales approach.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with C-level stakeholders and technical buyers alike.
  • Familiarity with modelling software, energy systems, or market simulation tools (e.g., PLEXOS) is an advantage.
  • Comfortable operating in cross-functional teams including Pre-Sales, Legal, Product, and Marketing.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across South East Asia, and occasionally other regions as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Economics, Communications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
