A technology company in Singapore is seeking a Sales Engineer to drive revenue growth through technical expertise and sales skills. Purpose
The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth by leveraging technical expertise and sales acumen to promote and sell the company’s products and solutions. This role focuses on identifying customer needs, providing tailored technical solutions, and fostering strong customer relationships. The Sales Engineer acts as a bridge between the company’s technical capabilities and the customer’s requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction while achieving or exceeding sales targets. This position is open to candidates with a range of experience, from junior to senior levels, and may involve managerial responsibilities for more experienced candidates.
Job Duties:
Primary Responsibilities:
· Grow and manage a customer portfolio to achieve assigned sales targets.
· Identify and pursue new customer accounts to expand the business.
· Conduct sales presentations, prepare quotations, and close sales effectively.
· Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and product developments; provide insights to management.
· Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationships.
· Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Prepare regular sales reports and track progress against performance goals.
· Participate in product and market development discussions with the Business Unit Manager.
· Support team members and share market knowledge to strengthen overall sales capability.
· Travel internationally for customer visits and business development when required.
Experience:
· Proven track record in technical sales with strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
· At least 0–2 years of relevant sales experience. Candidates with more than 2 years of experience and a demonstrated career path toward people management may be considered for higher-level responsibilities.
· Understanding of optics, fundamental physics, and/or mechanical engineering is a plus.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and communication.
· Ability to work independently and proactively search for leads to drive sales growth.
· Experience in customer-facing roles and a customer-oriented mindset.
· Manufacturing experience is advantageous.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Diploma in Engineering (Optics, Mechanical, or Electronics) or in a fundamental sciences field (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) is required.
· No prior experience is needed for this role; however, experience in precision manufacturing is an advantage.
· A background in engineering is preferred, particularly with knowledge of optics or physics.
Other Requirements:
· Good command of written and spoken English. Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an advantage for liaising with Mandarin-speaking counterparts.
· Willingness to work across multiple time zones (Asia, Europe, USA).
· Overseas travel is required, with at least one month’s notice.
Career Roadmap:
· A path towards Sales Manager.
· High performers may be eligible for promotion to Business Unit Manager within three years.
