Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Sales Technical Consulting & Discovery
- Partner with Account Executives to qualify leads and identify key technical and business challenges of prospective clients.
- Conduct in-depth discovery calls and meetings to understand the client's existing infrastructure, workflows, and pain points.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to prospects, building credibility and rapport.
2. Solution Design & Architecture
- Translate complex customer requirements into a tailored, technically sound solution using the company's products and services.
- Create and present technical proposals, architecture diagrams, and solution briefs that clearly articulate the proposed solution's value and functionality.
- Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of the company's product portfolio, competitive landscape, and industry trends.
3. Product Demonstration & Proof of Concept (PoC)
- Plan, prepare, and deliver compelling, customized product demonstrations that address the specific needs and use cases of each prospect.
- Manage and execute Proof of Concept (PoC) / Pilot projects, including planning, installation, configuration, and presentation of results to prove business value.
- Effectively handle and respond to technical objections and questions during sales presentations.
4. Technical Proposal & RFP Response
- Serve as the primary technical author for Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and security questionnaires.
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, compelling, and aligns with the proposed solution.
5. Post-Sale Transition & Client Success
- Facilitate a smooth handover of the client from the sales team to the professional services or implementation team.
- Act as a technical resource during the initial stages of implementation to ensure the solution is delivered as scoped.
- Gather feedback from prospects and clients to inform product development and roadmap.
6. Internal Collaboration & Enablement
- Train and enable the sales team on technical aspects of the product, new features, and competitive differentiation.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to relay customer feedback and influence product strategy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or similar pre-sales role, preferably in a B2B technology environment.
- Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of [Insert relevant technologies, e.g., SaaS platforms, networking, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), APIs, security protocols, databases].
Ability to create network diagrams and solution architectures (using tools like Lucidchart, Draw.io, etc.).
Excellent presentation and demonstration skills. - Sales & Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
