Job description

Role Positioning and Objectives

The Sales Application Engineer plays a critical role in bridging customer technical requirements with the company’s product solutions. This role handles customer inquiries via phone, email, or website, assists with product selection and sizing based on industry applications, provides technical support to sales, customers, and internal stakeholders, manages CRM leads through to opportunity conversion, supports sales activities, and analyzes sales data to ensure an efficient, accurate, and customer-focused sales process.

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle customer inquiries received through the company website, identify customer industry and end users, and assign inquiries to appropriate sales engineers based on industry classification rules.
  • Communicate with customers to understand technical requirements, perform product sizing and selection, and determine suitable product models for quotations.
  • Provide technical information and troubleshooting support via phone, email, or visits.
  • Use company software to select quote items, prepare quotation details, and support the sales team.
  • Create leads in CRM from technical discussions, enabling sales follow-up, opportunity development, and proper lead assignment.
  • Manage Steam Trap Surveys and Service Reports, coordinate follow-up and quotations with sales engineers and assistants.
  • Master product manuals and prepare technical information sheets (TIS), installation and maintenance instructions (IMI), and sales brochures (SB) for sales and customer needs.
  • Select products for MRO, Contractor, or EPC projects, and prepare technical and commercial proposals aligned with customer specifications and company policies.
  • Conduct product selection, sizing, and design; prepare conceptual P&ID diagrams and develop applications meeting customer requirements.
  • Utilize Power BI to analyze sales records, identify MRO product opportunities, and support sales growth initiatives.
  • Send product SSP inquiries to supply sites based on customer needs.
  • Collaborate with supply sites and sales teams during bidding and purchasing phases to meet customer expectations.
  • Assist in selecting sub-vendors and defining supply scopes for projects.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as TIS, IMI, and SB, and support new product releases with relevant documentation.
  • Support sales, support, and purchasing teams with certification and reporting needs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Skills / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Experience with solution design using 2D/3D modeling software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities under time pressure.
  • Knowledge of Spirax products, applications, systems, and processes.
  • Understanding of steam system design standards (e.g., PESR, EN 13480).
  • Proven experience in a similar industry or role.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
