Job summary

Meiden Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of personnel on construction sites and facilities. You will implement robust safety protocols, identify hazards and foster a strong safety culture to achieve zero incidents and comply with regulations.

You will monitor site activities, conduct inspections, coordinate with project teams, endorse risk assessments and maintain safety records.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) qualification/certificate.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant safety experience in engineering, construction or project environments.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join us. As Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all personnel on our construction sites and facilities. Your strategic focus will be on implementing and maintaining robust safety protocols, identifying hazards, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations. This role is essential to our commitment to achieving zero incidents and maintaining compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor day-to-day site activities to ensure compliance with workplace safety and health requirements by employees, contractors and subcontractors.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential workplace hazards.
• Work closely with project and site operations teams to address safety and health matters.
• Implement and support the Company's Safety and Health Management System at project sites.
• Coordinate and maintain records for site safety orientations, toolbox meetings, inspections and other safety activities.
• Conduct, review and endorse Risk Assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
• Monitor compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory, client and company safety requirements.
• Identify safety violations and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near misses and safety-related complaints, and recommend follow-up actions.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of safety reports, records, documentation and statutory forms.
• Support and conduct in-house safety briefings, toolbox meetings and safety training programmes.
• Work with contractors and project teams to improve workplace safety practices and operational efficiency.
• Follow up on corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, incidents and Risk Assessments.
• Respond to site safety emergencies and provide support where required.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• The position may require access to restricted or security-controlled project sites. Candidates must be able to meet the applicable site access and security clearance requirements.
• Possess a valid Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) qualification/certificate.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant safety experience within the engineering, construction or project environment.
• Candidates with relevant supervisory and safety certifications, such as Work at Height (WAH), Confined Space or equivalent certifications, will have an added advantage.
• Experience supporting construction, engineering or industrial project sites would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of workplace safety requirements, Risk Assessment processes and site safety practices.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a project team.
• Able to work beyond normal office hours or irregular hours when required by project activities.
• Able to respond to emergency situations or urgent site requirements when necessary.
• A valid driving license and own transport would be advantageous.
