Job description

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Safety Officer. In this role, you will develop knowledge of and be trained in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) practices. The position will focus on multiple responsibilities, including a primary function and SHE support, reporting directly to the location General Manager.

This role is site-based in Singapore.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a safety resource for lab team members, establishing and implementing the Safety, Health, and Environmental company program to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate SHE audits, inspections, evaluations, and related documentation.
  • Formulate and conduct safety training sessions and demonstrations, promoting employee participation in SHE programs, and lead the facility safety committee.
  • Assist in major incident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and demonstrating operational knowledge of safety standards.
  • Ensure all SHE equipment is maintained, ordered, available, inspected, and replaced when necessary (PPE, fire extinguishers, AEDs, safety showers, etc.).
  • Utilize the SHE Incident Management System to manage training, audits, meeting minutes, actions, and SHE events effectively.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of governmental safety and health regulations and legislation.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a safety support or leadership role, with interest or experience in organization development and working in challenging environments.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage variables with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, data, and details in various formats.
  • Must complete and understand local SHE training.
  • Physical ability to meet job demands; reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
