Job description

Responsibilities (Text Only)

Key Responsibilities - End to end ownership of statutory and tax matters for all Microsoft legal entities in ASEAN and GCR, including:

  • Financial Statement accuracy and integrity, in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP and other statutory and tax regulations
  • Review and sign off for reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Accurate and timely tax filings, including indirect taxes
  • Accuracy in payroll entries and other bookings
  • Cash and tax management and forecasting
  • Managing audits from local tax authorities or other government agencies
  • Driving operational improvements in statutory and tax activities, collaborating with relevant groups and stakeholders
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and overseeing the Stat & Tax work of One Finance outsourcing model to ensure optimal ROI
  • Managing legal entity lifecycle requirements efficiently (e.g., creation, closure, general meetings, representatives/power of attorney assignment)
  • Supporting global projects in our countries of operation, including building capabilities for complex new business models like cloud and data center operations
  • Collaborating with Corporate tax teams to address changes in local tax legislation that may impact MS business models
  • Working closely with teams such as CELA, Tax, HR, Trade, Real Estate, Security, Procurement to identify synergies and opportunities for optimization
  • Developing and sharing best practices across countries
  • Managing external relationships with statutory auditors, tax consultants, outsourced vendors, etc.
  • Hiring, developing, retaining, and managing performance of a distributed team across multiple countries
Other Responsibilities
  • Participating in and leading projects across our countries of operation to enable business success (e.g., data center geo expansion)
  • Educating business partners on the implications of tax and regulatory frameworks
  • Collaborating with the ASEAN & GCR Control & Compliance team to embed compliance into finance and business processes
  • Presenting Microsoft’s Finance Transformation initiatives externally to partners or customers

Qualifications (Text Only)

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in related fields AND 10+ years of relevant experience
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Experience with statutory laws, accounting policies, tax laws, especially for multinational companies (e.g., transfer pricing, online business tax compliance)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or MBA
  • Finance or Accounting degree with 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with statutory laws, accounting policies, tax laws relevant for multinationals
  • Experience managing outsourced partners and working with outsourcing models
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and business partnership skills
  • Experience in complex multinational organizations and managing diverse, remote teams
  • Ability to operate at multiple levels, from operational to strategic
