A global communication integration leader in Singapore is seeking a Residential Technician. The role involves patching cabling, troubleshooting IT equipment, and performing complex MAC requests. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in Data Centre operations, a basic understanding of data communications networking, and strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency in automation with SQL and Excel is also essential. This position offers a chance to work on various technical challenges in a dynamic environment.
Purpose of Job:

Racking and stacking of network devices / Cable patching / Physical layer troubleshooting / Equipment disposal activities / Hardware break fix support / Installing and troubleshooting enterprise equipment / Inventory Management / DCIM / OSI /TCP/IP Model / IP address / Mac address / ARP / Ping, trace commands / Console
Patch Cords (Types) / Routing protocols (plus)
This position will support facilities management, site security and project engagement with a commitment and desire to satisfy our client by completing all work at the highest level, always striving for perfection.
The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for success.
The candidate must have basic Networking knowledge.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
The patching cabling between network equipment and client’s network
The installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet Job Description
The installation, troubleshooting and de-installing IT equipment (Servers / Network / Storage / etc)
Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)
Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels
Act as interface between client’s associates and management
Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
Perform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testing
Perform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the client’s network as directed
Support carrier testing of circuits
Assist with facilities efforts such as vendor co-ordination and vendor supervision
Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoral
Water problems,
Emergency cooling restoration,
Fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post fire events
Support inventory management activities
Receiving inventory o Tagging of assets
Tracking spares (crash kits)
Ordering inventory
Updating inventory records
Prepare and return damaged equipment
Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations / MAC management
Requirements:
Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.
Requires experience in working in communications closets
Must be able to perform rack and stack activities
Must have automation background with SQL and excel
Must understand cable patching processes and procedures in copper and fiber Experience in either or both CommScope and Corning structured cables (copper and fiber)
Must have a basic knowledge of data communications networking.
Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issues
Must understand network terminology
Requires good interpersonal communications skills
Must be able to explain technical issues in a way the client will understand an issue
Must be able to interpret a client’s issue in a way that will allow technician to facilitate a resolution
Education/Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience in Data Centre operations and environment
Must have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.
High school Diploma or equivalent required
No Supervisory responsibilities
