Job description

The Resident Welfare Coach is responsible for providing trauma-informed care, supervision, training and management to residents with physical, intellectual and/or sensory disabilities, supporting them in developing their skills and interests to reach their full potential.

Resident Care & Supervision:

  • Provide care and supervision according to residents' Individual Care Plan (ICP)
  • De-escalate and manage tension when residents dysregulate
  • Respond to crisis situations and any unusual or challenging events (or at workplace)
  • Manage residents' behaviour, complaints and grievances (or at workplace)

Programme Management:

  • Execute the daily scheduled programmes/events with residents
  • Supervise order, safety, and cleanliness of the care & programme environment

Coaching & Mentoring:

  • Guide residents in developing personal, social, academic, and work skills based on their individual needs and programme objectives, with the aim of preparing them for success in school, work or community
  • Assist residents in resolving various issues and concerns
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate both long- and short-range activities, in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and programme philosophy

Clinical/Therapeutic Responsibilities:

  • Understand the physical and psycho-social needs of each resident, including support needs of residents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID) and general needs of residents who have experienced trauma
  • Support residents in emotion regulation by processing issues, implementing safety plans, and encouraging the use of emotion regulation tools and resources
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to enhance residents' wellbeing

Documentation:

  • Maintain the proper system of administration of residents' ICP, attendance, training programme records and other administrative records
  • Prepare and submit ICPs, Progress Reports, Programme Plans and Incident Reports to the Supervisor/Head of Home/Head of Programmes
  • Maintain client records with proper filing of residents' issues, incidents and development

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in working with children and adults with disabilities, but fresh graduates may also apply
  • With basic processing and counselling skills
  • Knowledge of common issues that appear in trauma and abuse
  • Able to work independently as well as a team player
  • Self-motivated and keen to develop professionally
  • Believe in the rights of persons with disabilities to thrive as full members of our community

Other Information

Others:

  • Maintain confidentiality of clients' personal data in accordance to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
  • Report any suspected abuse to Supervisor/Head of Home
  • Perform additional duties as required by the nature of the position or as requested by Supervisor/Head of Home

WORKING CONDITIONS

5-day work week including one weekend
