Position: Resident Architect (RA)
Position Summary
The Resident Architect (RA) will be deployed full-time on-site for a 30-month contract period to oversee the execution of architectural works. The RA is responsible for ensuring that construction aligns with approved designs, statutory regulations, and quality standards. Acting as the on-site architectural authority, the RA will safeguard the design intent, support coordination efforts across disciplines, and provide timely professional input to address site-related architectural issues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Compliance & Supervision
- Ensure construction complies with approved architectural drawings, specifications, and statutory codes (e.g., BCA, URA, SCDF, NEA).
- Review and provide feedback on architectural shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements.
- Liaise with the Qualified Person (QP) and relevant authorities for inspections, clarifications, and statutory compliance.
2. Quality Assurance & Site Inspection
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess workmanship, materials, and overall progress.
- Prepare site observation and non-conformance reports as needed.
- Witness and verify architectural works including mock-ups, finishes, and material installations.
3. Technical Coordination
- Collaborate with Resident Engineers (RE), Resident Technical Officers (RTOs), consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors to resolve architectural issues on-site.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide architectural input.
- Ensure proper interface between architectural works and other disciplines (e.g., MEP, structural, ID).
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and updated records of inspections, reports, drawings, and correspondence.
- Issue site memos or instructions on behalf of the Architectural Consultant/QP when authorised.
- Assist in preparing periodic reports and updates for client and consultant teams.
5. Defects Management
- Participate in inspections for Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP), Certificate of Statutory Completion (CSC), and final completion.
- Identify and document architectural defects; ensure rectification works are completed to acceptable standards.
6. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Promote and support safe construction practices related to architectural works, in coordination with the Safety Team.
- Ensure all architectural installations meet workplace safety regulations.
Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture from a recognised university.
- Registered Architect (or eligible for registration) with the Board of Architects, Singapore.
- In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s local codes and regulations (BCA, URA, SCDF, NEA, etc.).
Experience
- 6 Minimum years of relevant site supervision experience, preferably on large-scale institutional or residential developments.
- Demonstrated experience in managing architectural quality and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge of architectural detailing and construction methodologies.
- Effective coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Independent, reliable, and capable of sound professional judgment.
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD/Archicad, and BIM viewing platforms.
Additional Information
- Full-time site-based role in Singapore for a 30-month project duration.
- May require overtime work or weekend availability depending on project demands.
