The Laboratory of Surgical System & Service Innovation (3SI) is a multi-disciplinary laboratory that provides a platform for cutting-edge surgical health services research that informs healthcare systems, policies, and programs to provide high-value, patient centered care for patients and their families undergoing surgery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, meticulous, and responsible Research Officer or Associate to work closely with a team of experienced researchers and the clinical team in health system, services innovation, and novel surgical technologies research.

You will be part of a holistic clinical and health services research team whose mission is to improve clinical outcomes for seriously ill patients in surgery.Among others, your role will focus on supporting the design, execution, and publication of high-impact surgical health services research. Research include those related to real-world surgical outcomes, patient-centered care, health equity, and cost-effectiveness.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Research Design & Execution

  • Design and lead the development of health services and population health research projects. This may include large population-based cohort studies, qualitative or mixed-methods studies, implementational studies, clinical trials.
  • Adopt statistical – basic/advanced skills during the evaluation phase of research studies
  • Qualitative or mixed method analysis
  • Involved in the implementational processes of the proposed research
  • IRB applications
  • Manuscripts writing
  • Presentation at local or international meetings
  • Assist in grant applications processes – includes formulation of research ideas through literature reviews, conduct of pilot studies, preliminary analysis to grant writing/craftmanship, budgeting, among others
  • Project management
  • Financial and manpower budgeting
  • Oversee growth and development of junior members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in relevant discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience,OR
  • Master’s in public health/clinical Investigation/Implementation Science
  • Good knowledge in quantitative & qualitative methods, health economic analysis including cost-effectiveness & decision-analysis, commonly utilised in HSR research
  • Prior experience in basic and advanced statistical analysis
  • Prior relevant working experience with HSR related projects
  • Prior experience in grant submissions
  • Good publication track record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Added bonus if experience with machine learning methods
  • Able to work independently and interactively in a team setting, motivated, responsible and a fast learner
  • Passionate about clinical and health service research to bring about positive impact to patients with advanced cancers
