Job description

NTU Facility for Analysis, Characterisation, Testing and Simulation (FACTS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running of Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction, X-ray fluorescence and Electron Probe Microanalysis machines and support users in terms of training, consultation, usage, etc, so as to enable a broad user base to use the machines efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct maintenance on the above machines, liaising with vendor engineers and trouble-shooting regular problems and issues.
  • A strong crystallographic knowledge of single crystal, powder and pair distribution function. With knowledge and experience of advanced quantitative Rietveld, in-situ measurements and PDF analysis.
  • Deliver courses on X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence . These range from single lecture through to multi-day, in-depth courses that take users from beginners through to advanced.
  • Organise, lecture and provide support for those users, in collaboration with external vendors.
  • Provide consultancy for various ongoing university projects on the subjects of crystal chemistry and crystallography. Write up experimental reports and paper sections in accordance to the work done.
  • Fulfill any other assigned duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in crystallography, including single crystal, powder, and pair distribution function analysis.
  • Experience in advanced quantitative Rietveld analysis, in-situ measurements, and PDF analysis.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a team as well as independently
