NTU Singapore invites a Research Fellow to tailor geometrically designed quantum circuits for preparing cold quantum states, enabling prototype quantum computers. A PhD is required and strong programming and analytical skills are essential to succeed.
You will develop Python/Julia tools to count gates, test low-energy state preparation on Helios/Heron hardware, and mentor junior researchers while collaborating with Prof. Marek Gluza’s NTU group.
The Nanyang Quantum Solutions team led by Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore is seeking a new member to tailor quantum circuits based on geometrically motivated approaches capable of preparing cold quantum many-body states with not too many operations so prototypes of quantum computers can run these. This is a postdoc position, you must have a PhD degree.
With whom? With Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore who is eager to debate with you whether double-bracket quantum algorithms or a different approach are the right one when executing on Helios or Heron. The research group is being formed and see https://marekgluza.github.io/ for the intended culture centered on the idea of serving experimental efforts through theoretical support developing quantum middleware solutions.
Provide computer code in python or Julia to get actual gate counts in Qrisp after optimization which will improve beyond analytical upper bounds based on triangle inequalities with the goal to bring down resource estimates to the hardware level.
Validate feasibility of low energy state preparation for 2d models on commercially available hardware (Helios of Quantinuum or IBM Heron) and liaise with providers using neutral atoms.
Execute quantum circuits on quantum hardware based on prior experience deploying the full quantum computing pipeline starting from the theoretical discussions, to supporting your junior peers and all the way to supervising research assistants in finalizing data analysis.
Apply state preparation algorithms to FeMoCo molecules and extract physical properties e.g. contained in 1-body reduced density matrices.
PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or related field
At least 1 years of relevant experiences in similar role and or technical hands-on experience in executing quantum circuits on quantum hardware
Familiarity with standard quantum computing SDKs
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in programming languages, numeric and analytical skills
Competent in proactively mentoring junior and fellow peers
Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details, excellent organizational and time management skills.
