An established industry player is seeking a dedicated researcher to join a pioneering project on bioactive cyclic peptides. This role involves conducting innovative research to discover and develop new peptide modalities aimed at combating infectious diseases and cancer. The successful candidate will work with Dr Brandon I Morinaka on production and biological evaluation of peptide natural products under a project on Bioactive cyclic peptides.
The objective of the project is to create new peptide modalities that can be used for infectious disease and cancer.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
• Carry out research for new peptide natural products discovery and development including recombinant protein expression, and production and extraction of natural products.
• Train undergraduate and graduate students.
• Oversee and maintenance of analytical equipment.
Qualifications / Discipline:
Skills:
• Biochemical techniques: protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, size exclusion and affinity chromatography.
• Molecular biology: heterologous expression in E. coli and other bacterial hosts.
• Analytical chemistry: characterization of natural products and peptides. Well-versed in the use of HPLC, MS, and NMR for structural characterization.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work effectively in a team.
