Job Description:

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in the Centre for Holistic Inquiry into Lifelong Learning (CHILL).

The Research Fellow will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator (A/Prof Suranga Nanayakkara). He/She will work in developing effective pedagogical strategies for CET (Continuous Education and Training) courses. Their work will involve developing potential strategies based on prior work and in-house qualitative/quantitative data collections, designing interventions based on these strategies, testing and piloting them across various adult/lifelong learning courses.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing two key projects:
    • Collaborate with the Teaching Academy to gather feedback from CET instructors. Develop feedback surveys and coordinate with the Software Engineer to implement the survey system.
    • Design interventions to enhance the effectiveness of CET courses by integrating insights from the ongoing Systematic Literature Review. Work with a Research Assistant to conduct interviews and focus group discussions with CET instructors to design and implement these interventions for NUS CET Programs.
  • Contributing to the center progress report.
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant proposals for the center.
  • Supporting other center activities, such as organizing workshops for CET instructors.
  • Contributing to research papers.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Learning Sciences, Education or related field.
  • Expertise in Adult Learning Theories and Frameworks.
  • Expertise in Qualitative Research Methods.
  • A strong research background with proven publication track record.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
