Energy Studies Institute

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is a research institute at the National University of Singapore seeking to advance the understanding of energy policy issues by conducting independent research and analysis. We are looking for researchers to join a multi-disciplinary team carrying out research projects on a range of energy issues that are of concern to Singapore and the region.

Job Description

Tasks may include the following:

  • Conduct technical and policy reviews focusing on the global energy landscape, hydrogen economy, hydrogen technologies, and supportive policies.

  • Perform techno-economic analyses on energy supply chains using mathematical tools.

  • Write reports and publish articles in reputable academic journals.

  • Perform administrative duties, which include organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences, along with fulfilling other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Division or Principal Investigator.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a PhD degree in energy systems modelling, engineering, or a related quantitative research field.

  • Have a deep understanding of and interest in energy and environmental issues, notably the hydrogen economy, hydrogen supply chain, energy security, renewable technologies, and decarbonization strategies.

  • Capable of working independently and in collaboration with team members.

  • Experience in energy systems modelling, techno-economic analysis, Python programming, or life cycle analysis would be beneficial.

  • Relevant practical experience in industry or government agencies within the energy and environmental sectors in Singapore would be highly valuable.

  • A track record of publications in reputable journals related to energy, environment, and/or systems modeling would be an advantage.
