Qualifications

  • Solid foundation in microbial biotechnology with documented research experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Research experience in biofilm- or biofloc-related topics is highly desirable.

Job description

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.

We are looking for aResearch Fellow (RF) with expertise and experience in Environmental Engineering / Microbiology. The RF will engage in innovative research focused on the formation, structure, and function of bioflocs in climate-resilient aquaculture systems. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in impactful, interdisciplinary research in a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research team. It also provides opportunities to closely interact with industry leaders in aquaculture.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate would be required to lead a project under a larger research programme between Singapore and China. The candidate should fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Design, perform, and optimize experiments with scientific rigor;

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data;

  • Communicate findings clearly through technical reports, papers, and presentations;

  • Work collaboratively with researchers from diverse backgrounds

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in environmental engineering, biochemical engineering, environmental biotechnology/microbiology or a related field in science or engineering;

  • Solid foundation in microbial biotechnology, as evidenced by documented research experience, e.g., journal publications;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team;

  • Research experience in biofilm- or biofloc-related topics is highly desirable.
