A leading university in Singapore seeks a Research Fellow in Chemistry to join its Corporate Lab. The role involves developing functional adhesives for automotive applications, requiring advanced knowledge in materials and chemistry. The position offers opportunities to work on innovative research projects in a collaborative environment.

The research fellow will be part of a team of Continental-NTU corporate lab to conduct/assist research on customized functional adhesives and glue materials for automotive display panels, coating, lamination, and testing. He/she will contribute to the development of new application driven materials and production processes, located mostly at Nanyang Technological University.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and establish a chemical and material integration approach for automotive grade adhesives and bonding materials for display panels with partnering industries.
Material screening, selection and synthesis of automotive grade application driven adhesives such as gluing, optical bonding, adhesive tapes, etc.
Technology development from the perspective of chemical processes involved in product components manufacturing
Definition of appropriate material stacks, materials and processes products from chemical and mechanical aspects
Chemical characterization of materials within component specifications
Chemical compatibility analysis of materials for different components
Mechanical characteristics evaluation and optimization
Support mechanical and chemistry relevant qualification and failures analysis
Drive specific technologies scouting (e.g. bonding and coating materials, functional foils), roadmaps and solutions benchmarking from own expert area perspective
Perform market scouting for adhesive solutions, maintain internal material database and recommend suitable solutions for the application projects
Co-work with partnering institutions and other departments in regard to display system materials (e.g. optical bonding, coating, shielding tapes) evaluation and release.
Perform project documentation and technical reports.
Manage completion of engineering task based on agreed scope and timeline.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or PhD degree in relevant field with minimum 1 years of experience in relevant field
Advanced knowledge in chemistry field with focus on display materials, plastics and die cast
Advanced understanding of the applied chemical processes in display components and display products manufacturing.
Advanced understanding of adhesive materials and technologies
Able to build up a network and experience working in cross functional and international teams
Hands on mentality with Experience with wet-bench processes and chemical handling in lab.
Experience with material properties characterization: SEM, EDS, XRD, Microscopy, Rheometer, Mechanical characterizations, DMA.
Hands-on experience in synthesis and processing of adhesives and glue for display panel products.
Basic reporting, documentation, and presentation: Microsoft office.
