Job Description

A Research Fellow position in Bioprocess for CNegSAF project hosted by CNRS@CREATE, Singapore is available.

Overview
The CNegSAF Program is looking for a Research Fellow in Bioprocess Engineering.

Hosted by CNRS@CREATE with NUS as a co-lead for the program, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project' (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore's and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

Job description

We are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of the design, implementation and operation of an innovative bioreactor dedicated to gas fermentation. He will also be involved in the development of automation of the bioreactor. He will also participate in the definition of the cultivation strategies of the synthetic consortium to achieve the best production performances of the final molecule from carbon dioxide.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to High-Throughput Screening equipment (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in biochemical engineering, metabolic engineering, pathway engineering.

Qualifications

• Possess a PhD degree in Bioprocess engineering or related field.
• Experience with fermentation in bioreactor, and ideally with gas fermentation.
• Experience in management and development of bioreactors.
• Expertise in electronics and automation.
• Expertise with gas analysis and related calculations.
