Job summary

IMDA's Advanced Intelligence Software Systems division is seeking a Research Engineer to push research in the safety, security and trustworthiness of robotics and embodied AI systems. You will design experiments, develop proofs of concept, and create technical tools to explore risks and safeguards.

You will also contribute to policy-supporting guidance, perform threat modelling, and communicate results through papers and presentations to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience building, testing or analysing technical systems.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles including IAM, threat modelling and secure SDLC.
• Ability to conduct research on problems without defined solutions, develop hypotheses, design experiments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify failures and mitigations.
• Clear communication of technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on research into safety, security and trustworthiness of robotics and embodied AI systems, identifying emerging risks and failure modes through experimentation.
• Design and develop proofs of concept, experiments and technical tools to investigate risks and demonstrate safeguards.
• Translate research findings into technical guidance, test methods and tools for technology development and policy input.
• Support cybersecurity governance of internal technology products; identify security risks and define safeguards throughout product lifecycle.
• Conduct or support security assessments and threat modelling with cybersecurity specialists as needed.
• Communicate results through technical papers, articles, presentations and demonstrations.
