Qualifications

  • Mécanique/Matériaux avec au moins 2 ans d'expérience.

Responsibilities

  • Concevoir et mener des expériences sur des processus de fabrication poudre.
  • Gérer l'équipement de laboratoire et effectuer des tests physiques et chimiques.
  • Collaborer avec les membres de l'équipe sur des projets de recherche.

Job description

Research Engineer position, Metal and Ceramic Forming Group, SIMTech

As a Research Engineer in our Metal and Ceramic Forming Group, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies to address unique challenges across various industries. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for research, manufacturing and process development to join our dynamic team to shape the future of Advanced Manufacturing in Singapore.

Engineers with no experience may apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experiments and develop powder-based manufacturing processes for metal, ceramic and composite products.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment like mixers, presses, injection molding machines, heat treatment equipment, etc.
  • Perform physical and chemical tests for material microstructure, as well as material / part characterization.
  • Lead project tasks and deliverables, working independently while collaborating with team members.
  • Collaborate with team members and drive / support research and industry projects.
  • Provide timely project updates to team members and industry collaborators.
  • Manage sourcing and procurement of project consumables or equipment and liaising with vendors and suppliers, as well as other administrative tasks.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering / Materials Science, or minimum 2 years demonstrated experience at this level.
  • Basic understanding of material properties, microstructure, and how they relate to powder processing.
  • Effective presentation skills when delivering technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Interest in hands-on lab-based work; demonstrated ability to handle different metal- and ceramic-based technologies would be an advantage.
  • Familiar with CAD / SolidWorks or similar software would be an advantage.

Soft skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and a problem-solving oriented mindset.
  • Good communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies, with a proactive approach to skill development.
