Job summary

A*STAR SIMTech's ATI group is seeking a Research Engineer to develop intelligent manufacturing platforms that fuse additive manufacturing, automation, sensing, and data analytics. You will work on machine vision, sensor systems, AI-driven decision support and experimental demonstrations.

Responsibilities span design of platforms, automation systems and data-driven manufacturing solutions across metal AM, hybrid processes, and autonomous production.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interest in manufacturing technologies, automation and intelligent systems.
• Experience in robotics and automation.
• Experience in machine vision and image processing.
• Experience in embedded systems and electronics integration.
• Experience in machine learning and AI.
• Experience in sensor integration and data acquisition.
• Experience in additive manufacturing.
• Experience in manufacturing systems engineering.
• Programming in Python, C/C++, MATLAB.
• Experience with robotics frameworks, control systems or industrial automation tools advantageous.
• Familiarity with CAD and engineering simulation tools such as SolidWorks, Abaqus, COMSOL or ANSYS advantageous.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong hands-on engineering aptitude across software, electronics and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate advanced manufacturing systems incorporating additive manufacturing, automation and intelligent sensing technologies.
• Develop experimental manufacturing platforms, process-monitoring systems and technology demonstrators for industrial applications.
• Support development of next-generation manufacturing capabilities involving metal additive manufacturing, hybrid manufacturing and automated production systems.
• Translate engineering concepts into functional prototypes, demonstration systems and industrial solutions.
• Develop automation solutions for manufacturing operations such as machine tending, material handling, automated inspection and process monitoring.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, embedded electronics, controllers and industrial communication systems into manufacturing platforms.
• Support automation of manufacturing workflows and development of intelligent manufacturing cells.
• Participate in integration of industrial robots, collaborative robots and autonomous manufacturing systems.
