Job summary

A*STAR – Agency for Science, Technology and Research is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Technician to perform frontline troubleshooting, maintenance, and data-driven improvements in a high-precision cleanroom environment. You will support ISO audits and CIP initiatives while collaborating with process control, vendor teams, and cross-functional engineers.

Candidates should have a Nitec/Higher Nitec or Diploma in Engineering or related fields with 2+ years of semiconductor equipment experience,

Qualifications

• Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Engineering, Science, or related disciplines.
• Fluent English communication.
• Preferably 2+ years of semiconductor equipment engineering experience with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Systematic and logical thinking.
• Strong discipline in SOPs, quality standards, and EHS requirements.
• Physically able to work in cleanroom for 12-hour shifts.
• Willing to perform shift work including weekends and public holidays.
• Attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong teamwork and communication with engineers and techs.
• Independent with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• First line troubleshooting for equipment issues.
• Execute scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance and Post PM recovery.
• Maintain equipment uptime and liaise with process control and vendors for escalations and SPC deviations.
• Collaborate with process module development, control teams, and vendors for reliable operations.
• Support internal audits for ISO certification.
• Contribute to CIP to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Prepare shift reports and handover notes.
• Follow EHS and cleanroom safety standards.
• Maintain documentation and housekeeping (6S, TPM).
• Mentor junior technicians and participate in training activities (Senior Technician).

Responsibilities

• First line troubleshooting for equipment related issues
• Execute scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance and Post PM process recovery
• Responsible for equipment uptime and liaison with process control team and equipment vendors for resolving escalations and SPC deviation.
• Works with process module development team, process control team and vendor to ensure flawless operations.
• Support internal audits as needed for ISO certification.
• Support CIP (continuous improvement projects) to improve reliability and efficiency
• Prepare shift reports and handover notes
• Follow EHS and cleanroom safety standards
• Maintain proper documentation and housekeeping (6S, TPM)

Requirements

• Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Engineering, Science, or related disciplines
• Able to communicate fluently in English
• Preferably with minimum 2 years of semiconductor equipment engineering experience (AMAT, ASML, Bruker, Ebara, Evatec, EVG, KLA, LAM, MATTSON, Nikon, SPTS, TEL, Veeco etc.) with hands-on equipment troubleshooting experience
• Systematic and logical thinking.
• Strong discipline in following SOPs, quality standards, and EHS requirements
• Physically able to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods (12 hours shift), including standing and gowning requirement1
• Willing to perform shift work, including weekends and public holidays
• Good attention to detail and committed to data accuracy and integrity
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a sense of ownership and responsibility
• Basic computer literacy (MES systems, data entry, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or similar tools)

Additional Requirements (for Senior Technician)

• Experience handling multiple Semiconductor toolsets with >10 years experience or more
• Exposure to yield improvement, DOE runs, or engineering experiments
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and support training activities
• Familiarity with fab automation systems (e.g., FOUP handling, stockers, sorters)
• Basic understanding of SPC, FMEA.
• Lead in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean / Six Sigma)
