Job description

ISCE2 is seeking a talented Research Engineer to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team to develop next-generation green and sustainable technology for the biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. This position offers an opportunity to work with enzymes and bioengineering to develop new enzymes for more streamlined manufacturing of complex molecules. The ideal candidate is passionate about science and sustainability, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, enjoys laboratory work, and has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The successful candidate may be responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Conduct experiments related to molecular biology, including molecular design and cloning.
  2. Perform protein expression in bacterial systems, including molecular cloning, fermentation in bioreactors/shake flasks, and protein separation and immunoassays.
  3. Design, plan, and execute experiments based on proposed project scope.
  4. Be comfortable with the use of technology to aid experiments.
  5. Support screening, biocatalysts characterization, and hits validation efforts.
  6. Analyze data, interpret results, and troubleshoot.
  7. Present at regular project meetings and summarize results in reports.
  8. Review relevant literature.
  9. Assist in the preparation of scientific communications, publications, figures, and posters.
  10. Perform general lab housekeeping.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements:

  1. BSc or Masters degree with some laboratory experience, preferably in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or Biological Engineering.
  2. Preferred hands-on experience with microbial culture.
  3. Experience with bioreactors will be advantageous.
  4. Preferred hands-on experience with molecular cloning and bioanalytical techniques, such as PCR, SDS-PAGE, LC-MS, Western blot, ELISA, or other immunoassays.
  5. Team player who is self-motivated and enjoys applied research work in a multidisciplinary environment.
  6. Adaptable to team-oriented goals and requirements.
  7. Good problem-solving skills.
  8. Rigorous data analysis and interpretation skills.
  9. Meticulous, with attention to detail and organization skills.
  10. Excellent oral and written communication, documentation, and organization skills.
  11. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task.
