Job description

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate at the Science of Learning in Education Centre. This is a 12-month contract position based at NTU Main Campus, Singapore.

Project Title: DREAMS

Drivers, Enablers and pathways of Adolescent developMent in Singapore (DREAMS): The Singapore Longitudinal Cohort Study (SG-LCS) Phase 1 – Project 7

Project Introduction:

This study aims to understand various aspects of educational pathways among students, including the drivers of pathway decisions, stability and change patterns, and early childhood factors. Special focus is given to students with special educational needs (SEN) and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Requirements

Essential:

  • A Master’s Degree in Learning Sciences, Education, Psychology, Data Science, Educational Neuroscience, or related fields; PhD holders may be considered for a Research Fellow position.
  • Familiarity with the Singapore education system, especially with disadvantaged learners.
  • Knowledge of major learning sciences theories.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, Mplus).
  • Experience in data collection, organization, and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Experience with neuroimaging studies and database management.
