Job summary

GenScript Biotech Corporation in Singapore is seeking a Research Assistant / Associate (Protein science) to support R&D projects and lab operations. You will contribute to DBTL cycles, purify proteins, and perform characterization assays while maintaining records and SOPs.

Role requires a Biological Sciences degree and hands-on protein downstream experience, ELISA/BLI/SPR familiarity, and strong communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in protein production downstream workflow and purification schemes.
  • Experience with protein detection methods (SDS-PAGE, Western blot).
  • Experience with ELISAs and protein characterization (BLI/SPR).
  • 1+ year in antibody production, research, process development or technical services.
  • Good communication and teamwork; familiar with GraphPad Prism and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • R&D project support including design-build-test-learn cycles.
  • Protein purification and production using affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion methods.
  • Protein characterization via biophysical/biochemical assays.
  • Documentation, reporting, SOP updates, and LIM entries.
  • Lab operations, safety, inventory, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Production, QC and OE on PDCA-driven projects.

Position:

Research Assistant / Associate (Protein science)

Report to: Senior Scientist, Singapore R&D Department

We are seeking a Research Assistant (or Associate) in Protein Sciences to support our R&D projects and laboratory operations. Key tasks can range from downstream purification to protein characterization work to data recording, management and analyses. Candidate will work closely with Senior Scientists (SS) and department supervisor to ensure alignment on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
R&D Project Support
  • Experimental design and planning: able to contribute to R&D project(s) development through design-build-test-learn (DBTL) cycles, literature review
  • Protein Purification & Production: execute purification schemes (affinity, ion-exchange, size-exclusion etc)
  • Protein characterization: biophysical and biochemical assays
  • Documentation and reporting: maintain detailed experimental records, preparing reports, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIMs).
  • Lab Operations: perform routine lab hygiene activities, inventory management, and safety compliance
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Support the team in process development and tech transfer activities via Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles
  • Collaborate with Production, QC and OE teams to facilitate R&D projects
Key Requirements
  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent
  • General knowledge of and hands-on experience in protein production downstream workflow from handling mammalian cell culture, various protein purification schemes using manual bead-based columns or FPLCs, and typical protein detection (SDS-PAGE, Western blot) methods.
  • General knowledge of and hands-on experience in microplate reader plate-based assays (e.g. ELISAs) and other protein characterization methods (primarily protein binder affinity measurement using BLI/SPR)
  • 1+ years in antibody production, research, process development or technical services.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and teamwork
  • Familiar with general statistical analysis (Graphpad Prism), report compilation and presentation (Microsoft office suite)
