Job description

We are expanding our laboratory unit at the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Office, SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Center. As a Research Associate, you will be working on molecular and cellular characterization of genes and biochemical/functional experiments related to translational aspects of human carcinogenesis, as well as mouse models. Ability to manage work, prioritize, and organize plans as a team.

1. Laboratory research

  • Perform experiments in the laboratory.
  • Adhere to procedures, safety standards and instructions in the conduct of experiments.
  • Maintain proper records of all experiments done and results obtained.
  • Maintain and update inventories.
  • Effective communication of results.
  • Maintain high quality of work in the lab experiments.
  • Meets deadlines.

2. Laboratory operation and team work

  • Ensures smooth running of the laboratory by participation in the maintenance of lab equipment, inventory and supplies.
  • Provides staff training to new hire of the lab.
  • Assist other lab members in their experiments where needed.
  • To work with vendors, MMD for procurement.

3. Research Methodology

  • Work closely with PI and team in optimizing experimental methodology for research.
  • Revise techniques and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Participate in lab protocol maintenance.
  • Ensuring standard operating protocols are followed.
  • Performs other job-related duties where required.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters or Degree in Life Science or related discipline with min 2 years of experience.
  • Technical competence in a broad set of laboratory skills.
  • Laboratory experience in molecular biological and cell culture techniques will be required.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently, a good team player with good communication skills and dedication to the job.
  • Conscientious, well organized and efficient in work management.
  • Basic skills in computing and statistics analyses.
