Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage research data and keep up-to-date research records, be able to perform data analyses and critically interpret generated data, and summarise research findings.
  • Search and sort out literature and database, identify key findings of previous research, and be able to paraphrase and consolidate key concepts of literature.
  • Conduct data collection independently (survey, classroom observation, FGD, interview, spoken and written language data).
  • Process and generate descriptive data from surveys, classroom observation, FGDs, interviews and corpora independently.
  • Be able to construct teaching plans or test items independently.
  • Be able to design research tools for school-based project.
  • Project administration tasks such as scheduling and liaise with schools.
  • Be able to develop and maintain co-operative working relationships with Principal Investigator, colleagues and collaborators, be able to give feedback and share ideas or experience with others, and resolve problems in most situations.
  • Be able to report clearly on design and progress of research project.
  • Write research reports and papers, and be able to produce relevant write-ups for proposals under PI’s supervision.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to work independently within given deadlines.
  • Experience in working with teachers and students in Singapore schools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and project management skills.
  • Basic statistical knowledge and skills.
  • Good theoretical knowledge of research designs in general.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, to liaise with Chinese-speaking associates.
  • Basic knowledge in Chinese Linguistics and Language Teaching and Learning.
