Job Description

We are seeking multiple full-time Research Assistant(s) who will assist with quantitative data analysis in ongoing projects on the economics and demography of aging, pensions and retirement, as well as health of the elderly. The projects are part of a large 5-year research program (2024-2028) which has collaborators in Singapore and the United States. The Principal Investigator of this project is located at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The successful candidate(s) must demonstrate competence in quantitative research methods using STATA or R, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Research interest and experience in one or more of the above-listed areas on economics and demography of aging, OR pensions and retirement, OR health of older adults is a plus.

This position caters to individuals who are looking to further their skillsets and analytical training to develop a career or pursue further studies in the fields of applied economics or public policy research. As such, we require a minimum of one year of past research work experience as full-time Research Assistant. Please state this work experience clearly in your cover letter. This position is not suitable for fresh graduates or those with part-time/ad-hoc research experience only.

Responsibilities of the full-time Research Assistant(s) include:

  • Administrative support for research projects under a 5-year research programme
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Assist with collecting, cleaning, and analyzing primary/secondary data
  • Draft/contribute to research reports, policy briefs, and articles
  • Prepare presentation materials for stakeholder meetings
  • Copy-editing and proofreading
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Demography, or Sociology.
  • Candidates with a Master's degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of one year of past research work experience as full-time Research Assistant.
  • Proficient in quantitative research methods using STATA or R.
  • Self-motivated and attention to detail.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • The candidate is expected to be physically present in office during the stipulated working hours.
  • Able to commit to at least 1 year of service.
