Job description

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 12-month contract at the Office for Research.

Project Title: RaDiX: Building flexibility and creativity to support lifelong learning through Physical Education

Project Introduction: This project intends to rely on Science of Learning and Movement Science to investigate the development of creativity in children and young adults. More precisely it looks at how to identify creative behavior and what is the long-term effect of practicing in a creative environment on the development of fundamental movement skills. The experimental protocol will involve participants performing different motor tasks, while the researchers will collect multimodal data (i.e., movement, brain imaging) to dive into what is a creative behavior, how to identify more creative persons and how to quantify motor creativity at the individual level.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in sport science or related scientific discipline (neuroscience, computer science)
  • Good knowledge in movement analysis techniques and brain imaging data acquisition (e.g., fNIRS, EEG)
  • Experience in conducting experimental research on human participants
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Excellent computer competency, basic knowledge of coding
  • Excellent ability to manage large multi-source data set

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit participants and schedule data collection
  • Manage schedule for data collection by part-time student research assistants
  • Assist with data collection using video camera and 3D motion capture system
  • Enter and organize data
  • Perform data analysis using specialized software (R, JASP)
  • Prepare reports, conference presentations and draft for journal publications
  • Support general maintenance and activities of NIE Motor Behavior Lab
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
