Job summary

Nanyang Technology University, via the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) in Singapore, seeks a Research Assistant to support the NMPWaterSG project. You will detect nano-microplastics and help establish standard methods for their detection in Singapore.

Key tasks include experimental design with PI/Co-PIs, on-site sampling, instrument operation (LDIR, Raman, TGA, Py-GCMS), data processing, and contributing to progress and final reports.

Qualifications

• B.Eng./B.Sc. in analytical chemistry, environmental engineering, chemistry or a relevant field.
• Good analytical chemistry experimental operation skills, especially analytical testing.
• Extensive knowledge of chemistry and analytical techniques.
• High motivation and strong responsibility for research and development.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Excellent teamwork awareness.
• Productive, hard-working and dedicated to the completion of any task assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist in experimental design with the PI/Co-PIs and troubleshoot experiments.
• Understand and follow experimental protocols.
• Conduct on-site sampling of nano-microplastics in various water sources.
• Operate instruments (LDIR, Raman, TGA, Py-GCMS, furnaces).
• Process and analyze instrument data.
• Summarize findings and contribute to progress and final reports.
