Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant in the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Our academic and research staff have outstanding research publication and grant funding track records in research areas such as cancer pharmacology, neuropharmacology, immunopharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and drug discovery and development. Pharmacology is the anchoring department for the Drug Discovery and Optimisation Platform (DDOP), Memory Aging Cognitive Centre (MACC) at NUHS, and the NUS Neuroscience Phenotyping Core (NPC). The Department also has a strong presence in University-level research institutes including the Cancer Science Institute (CSI), and the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) Neuroscience and Immunology Programs.

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Research Assistant to assist in community based studies on early detection and prevention of cognitive decline in seniors.

Appointments will be made on a 1 year- contract basis with option to renew.

Purpose of the post

To assist investigators in conducting research studies according to study protocol, Singapore Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (SGGCP) and other applicable regulatory and ethical requirements as well as institutional policies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the submission of new ethics applications, study amendments and annual reports.
  2. Work closely with principal investigators, research fellows, and program manager to execute studies.
  3. Conduct research study activities like participant recruitment, data collection, data analysis and data management
  4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with institutional policies, ethics requirements and local regulations.
  5. Assist in performing literature searches and producing reviews of the literature to support the delivery of research projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist with routine preliminary analyses; maintain research data, write summary reports, and report findings to investigator.
  2. Provide research updates to study team on regular basis.
  3. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI
  4. Maintain confidentiality on participants' data.

This list should not be regarded as exhaustive, and the postholder will be expected to deliver other duties relevant and appropriate to this post.

Qualifications
  1. Qualification: Degree in Life Science, Nursing, Psychology or relevant health-related fields
  2. Experience or interest in conducting research studies with seniors.
  3. Able to work independently and meticulously.
  4. Good written and communication skills.
  5. Bilingual - Besides English, a good command of Mandarin is preferred as many of our elderly participants speak only Mandarin. Other common Chinese dialects will be an added advantage.
  6. Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  7. Flexibility to work on weekends (if needed. i.e for outreach events).
  8. Team player.
